This is an absolutely breathtaking historic home close to the Kingston downtown and waterfront. The rooms are beautiful, the hostess charming and breakfast was clever and tasty and just the right amount of food. We hope to return in warmer weather to enjoy the amazing front porch.

We stayed here twice in a trip to Canada to see our daughter. The B&B is close to the centre of Kingston - an easy walk and Queens University where our daughter is studying. The whole property is beautifully presented and very comfortable. The shared areas are very welcoming and you feel as if you are at home. We had the Turret Room and that was also very comfortable, cosy and somewhere we looked forward to coming at the end of the day. It had a lovely fire and was very quiet.

The host, Kathy, was hugely welcoming and incredibly helpful. Every evening she provides tea time treats and there is coffee and tea available through the day. Kathy serves very tasty and imaginative breakfasts each day and we all looked forward to these a lot.

It was also lovely, for us as visitors from the UK, to meet and talk to the other guests who were Canadian. We had great chats over breakfast with some lovely people.

I'm normally a person for big 5* hotels but even if there was one of those in Kingston, I would stay here. It was fabulous.

July 2018

We stayed here for a weekend in July. The locations is great - walking distance to anything downtown, lots of restaurants, patios, the waterfront etc. The charming decor was period furniture and well done. Our hostess knew the history of the house well and explained how it came to be. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, especially the bed. The best part to us is the breakfast - meeting different people from all over the world and Canada and lively discussions. The food was fresh and delicious. Special accommodations were made for diet restrictions as well.

The Secret Garden is the quintessential B&B - A beautiful house, immaculately maintained, pleasant company, comfortable room, outstanding location, and Cathy is a friendly and helpful proprietor. We only had one night in Kingston, but it was a good one! I would definitely recommend this B&B to friends and family.

It's a beautiful old house with lovely furnishings and a great location. The living room, library and some bedrooms have gas fireplaces, one room has a turret, another has a private porch. There's an inviting front porch for the summer months. A very comfortable place to stay! Delicious breakfasts.
Quite a bit of parking on site, and you'll want to leave your car there, as it's so easy to walk to almost everything you'd want to go to - Queen's University and the Agnes, downtown, the Grand Theatre, the waterfront, etc.
